Uncovering South Africa's Stories, Amplifying African Voices

Voice Africa Daily is dedicated to producing journalism that serves the public interest through accurate reporting, fair analysis, and transparent sourcing. Our editorial standards guide every story we publish and reflect our commitment to excellence and accountability. Accuracy and Verification Accuracy is the foundation of our journalism. All factual claims in our articles must be verified through reliable sources before publication. Our reporters are required to confirm information independently and maintain detailed notes of their reporting process. We distinguish clearly between facts, analysis, and opinion. Headlines and summaries must accurately reflect article content without sensationalizing or misrepresenting information. When reporting on sensitive or contested issues, we ensure multiple perspectives are represented fairly and comprehensively. Sourcing and Attribution We attribute all information to named sources whenever possible. When unnamed sources are necessary to protect individuals or encourage candid discussion of important issues, we clearly indicate the source's relationship to the story and explain why anonymity was granted. We do not rely on single sources for significant factual claims without corroboration. Our reporters document all sources and maintain these records for verification purposes. Public documents, official statements, and published research are cited with appropriate references. Independence and Conflicts of Interest Our journalists maintain independence from political, commercial, and personal interests that could compromise their reporting. Reporters disclose any potential conflicts of interest to their editors before undertaking assignments. We do not allow advertising or business relationships to influence editorial decisions. Our ownership structure and funding sources are transparent to readers. Journalists do not accept gifts, payments, or favors from sources that could create obligations or bias. Corrections and Accountability We acknowledge errors promptly and correct them visibly. All corrections are published at the top of affected articles with clear explanations. We view corrections as opportunities to improve our processes and maintain reader trust. Readers can report errors to our Corrections Desk at [email protected]. Our Editorial Standards team regularly reviews corrections to identify systemic issues and implement improvements. Artificial Intelligence Disclosure Voice Africa Daily uses AI tools to assist with research, fact-checking, and content organization. However, all editorial decisions, source verification, and final publication decisions are made by human journalists. When AI tools significantly contribute to a story's reporting or analysis, we disclose this to readers. We do not use AI to generate original news content or replace human journalism. Our use of AI enhances our reporting capabilities while maintaining journalistic integrity and accountability. Reader Trust Our readers are the foundation of our mission. We welcome feedback, questions, and criticism about our coverage. We are committed to transparency about our processes, sources, and decision-making. We engage with our community through letters to the editor, reader forums, and direct communication. By maintaining these standards consistently, we earn and preserve the trust our readers place in us.
